"Noise" is a collaborative initiative led by three final-year Communication Design students from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon. Rooted in the exploration of the intricate connections between design and activism, the project unfolds a compelling narrative that extends beyond the traditional boundaries of communication design.
In its inaugural edition, "Noise" delves into activism within the creators' home countries – Angola, Brazil, and Portugal. Beyond a mere exploration of the creative process, the project serves as a rich repository of news and information, offering a comprehensive look at protests and activist movements specific to each locale.
By intertwining design and on-the-ground activism, "Noise" amplifies the voices of those involved in movements addressing the unique challenges faced by each country. Through engaging narratives and firsthand accounts, the project not only captures the essence of the creative process but also serves as a dynamic platform for understanding and contextualizing the protests and issues relevant to each location.
"Noise" emerges as a multifaceted exploration, inviting readers to reflect on the integral role of design in shaping and amplifying activist messages, while simultaneously providing a window into the diverse landscapes of protests and activism in Angola, Brazil, and Portugal. The project seeks to inspire dialogue, challenge perceptions, and foster a collective appreciation for the transformative potential of activism within the broader context of communication design.
